We’re seeking a skilled Garment Technician to join Alexandra Australia on a part-time basis (3 days per week). This role offers a pro-rata salary of $70,000–$80,000 Full Time equivalent , based on your experience, and the opportunity to work with a passionate, purpose-led fashion brand.

Role Overview:
The Garment Technician is responsible for ensuring that all garments are developed and produced to high-quality, fit, and workmanship standards.
This role works closely with the Founder, Designer, and suppliers to oversee the technical specifications, fit process, and quality control from initial prototype development to bulk production.
The Garment Technician will lead the quality and fit process across multiple product categories, ensuring consistency in sizing, grading, and garment construction in line with Alexandra Australia’s brand standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Development & Fit Process
- Create and maintain detailed Tech Packs in collaboration with the Founder and Designer, ensuring accurate specifications for styling, fit, and workmanship for supplier handover.
- Measure all garments at proto sampling, SMS, pre-production, and bulk production stages, ensuring consistency with spec sheets and company standards.
- Attend fit sessions with the Founder and Designer, ensuring samples align with design briefs and delivery timelines.
- Provide technical advice and guidance regarding fit and construction requirements.
- Compile and document detailed fit comments after each session, ensuring necessary amendments are made for the next sample stage.
- Create and update graded size specifications across all product categories, ensuring brand consistency.
- Maintain consistency of sizing and quality across multiple suppliers.
Supplier & Production Liaison
- Communicate fit, construction, and quality feedback directly with offshore suppliers.
- Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships, ensuring adherence to Alexandra’s quality expectations.
- Liaise with suppliers on pattern making, sizing, fit, grading, and workmanship adjustments.
- Ensure suppliers comply with labelling, packaging, and branding requirements across all production stages.
- Assist in maintaining the critical path, ensuring key deadlines (development, fit approvals, and bulk production milestones) are met.
Quality Control & Assurance
- Conduct thorough QC inspections across all stages, ensuring fabric, trims, and construction meet approved standards.
- Ensure garments meet grading, fit, and quality specifications, adjusting when necessary to improve consistency.
- Assist in the development of a block library, maintaining fit consistency across product categories.
- Ensure all garments are production-ready, with accurate Tech Packs, graded specs, and Bill of Materials (BOM) documentation.
Documentation & System Management
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date tech packs in the PLM system
- Keep Bill of materials (BOMs) updated with labelling, packaging, and trim requirements.
- Conduct administrative tasks related to supplier documentation, tracking, and approvals.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Degree or tertiary qualification in Fashion, Textiles, or Garment Technology.
- 3-5+ years of experience as a Garment Technician in the fashion industry.
- Strong knowledge of garment construction, specifications, grading, and quality assurance (pattern-making experience highly regarded).
- Experience across multiple product categories, with strong knowledge of woven and stretch fabrics.
- Proficiency in Excel, and PLM systems (or similar production software).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, ensuring high technical standards are maintained.
- Experience working with offshore suppliers and factories, ensuring compliance with fit and quality expectations.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills to manage supplier relationships effectively.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meeting tight deadlines while ensuring quality standards.
- A collaborative and team-oriented approach, working closely with the Founder and Designer.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills to meet key critical path deadlines.
- Experience working with plus-size garments is highly desirable.
