About the Role
Sitting within the Planning and Assessment team, the Development Officer is responsible for researching and providing advice on building and development matters to internal and external stakeholders including management, internal branches and developers.
The role will involve exercising initiative in decision making, problem solving and resolution of conflicts in relation to developments, while maintaining professional relationships with internal and external clients.
You will undertake assessment manager or concurrence agency functions, processing, assessing and negotiating development applications in an efficient manner.
This role is responsible for preparing reports including recommendations as well as preparing briefs of evidence for presentation to the Court, Development Tribunal and Queensland Building and Construction Commission. The opportunity may also be given to represent the Branch on technical working parties, working groups, committees and industry action teams.
About you
You will have an established knowledge of and ability to apply building, planning & environment legislation, policies, statutory procedures and requirements relating to assessing building and development applications. Coupled with this is possession of formal qualifications in building, building surveying or urban planning.
Your time management abilities are well developed, in order to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and to a superior standard. Your communication and interpersonal skills are pivotal to this position in order to actively listen, negotiate and foster collaboration and co-operation.
If appointed at a higher classification you may be expected to undertake additional duties, performed to a more advanced standard.
