Applications are sought from suitably qualified and experienced Lawyers to fill the exciting role of Senior Government Lawyer within the Corporate Services Branch, Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA) based in Canberra.

The Senior Government Lawyer is part of a small team, working collegiately with other Senior Legal Officers, and AFMA’s General Counsel to provide in-house legal services for managing Commonwealth fisheries.

The legal services support the agency in maintaining its integrity and reputation through ensuring that AFMA operates as a professional and accountable government agency, compliant with all government, legislative and relevant international requirements.

Eligibility

• AFMA staff are employed under the Australian Public Service Act 1999. All applicants must be Australian citizens.
• Have a current security clearance at Baseline Level or be able to obtain such clearance.
• Must hold a law degree and hold or be eligible to hold a restricted government legal practising certificate.
