About the Role
A fast-growing, ASX-listed defence technology company is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Field Service Engineer to join their expanding Delivery Team. The company’s continued global success has created the need for additional technical support expertise to maintain world-class customer satisfaction.
In this role, you will be pivotal in providing comprehensive technical support, from initial customer engagement through to post-sales assistance. You’ll work closely with teams across Business Development, Operations, and Product Development, ensuring customers receive seamless, responsive, and knowledgeable support at every stage of the product lifecycle.
This position reports directly to the Associate Project Manager and is ideal for someone passionate about technology, customer success, and building a career in an innovative, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
•Collaborate with the sales and business development teams, supporting technical engagements and ensuring system designs and quotations are accurate and tailored to customer requirements.
•Act as the primary technical liaison for customer accounts, from order placement through to installation, maintenance, and ongoing technical support.
•Plan, coordinate, and manage complex multi-product system installations.
•Capture, document, and relay customer technical feedback to internal teams.
•Act as the “voice of the customer” during new product development, providing key insights to engineering teams.
•Perform validation testing of new hardware and software releases, ensuring they meet end-user expectations.
•Provide technical assistance remotely and on-site, resolving customer issues efficiently and effectively.
•Conduct technical investigations and root cause analysis with minimal supervision.
•Maintain and enhance technical documentation, system guides, and internal processes to drive continuous improvement.
•Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external customers, ensuring clear, reliable communication across diverse technical and cultural backgrounds.
•Stay informed on emerging technologies, tools, and industry trends relevant to your role.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
•A degree in Engineering or a related quantitative field is highly regarded.
•Previous experience in a Field Service Engineering or technical support role, directly supporting customers and managing projects alongside engineering teams.
•Strong background in networking devices – essential.
•Proficiency with Linux operating systems – essential.
•Experience testing, troubleshooting, and supporting complex systems.
•Exposure to telecommunications, radio frequency (RF) systems, or electronic warfare technologies is highly desirable.
•Coding skills (Python, Go, or JavaScript) are advantageous.
•Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders, drawing from a range of engineering disciplines.
•Existing Defence Security Clearance is preferred but not mandatory.
