The Payroll Officer is responsible for overseeing the complete payroll process for 300-600 employees within the education sector, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage the full end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely payroll for all staff.
- Process termination payments and generate relevant payroll reports.
- Oversee timesheet entry, including some manual processing, and maintain accurate payroll data.
- Administer the Time and Attendance system and the Employee Self Service (ESS) leave portal.
- Reconcile payroll data, including monthly superannuation, contractor superannuation, and union fees.
- Interpret and apply payroll legislation across multiple awards and enterprise agreements.
- Perform payroll reconciliations, including year-end and general ledger payroll reconciliation.
- Respond promptly and professionally to payroll-related queries from employees.
- Prepare and upload costing information into financial systems
- Collaborate with HR on salary increases and other employee-related matters.
- Maintain and update government agency documents as needed.
- Ensure leave entitlements and calculations are accurately reconciled.
Skills and Knowledge:
- At least 3-5 years of experience
- In-depth understanding of payroll and taxation legislation.
- Advanced Excel and numeracy skills are essential.
- Experience with Aurion is preferred.
- Familiarity with payroll operations in the education sector is an advantage.
- Ability to interpret and apply multiple awards and enterprise agreements.
