We are seeking a proactive, hands-on individual to join our team in a multi discipline full-time role that combines caretaking, maintenance, and a houseman role with some supervisory responsibilities.
Role Overview
As a Houseperson / Handyperson / Room Attendant with Supervisory Duties, you will play a key role in ensuring our hotel maintains the highest standards of cleanliness, functionality, and guest satisfaction. Your duties will include maintaining public areas, managing linen and waste collection, performing minor repairs, servicing guest rooms and stepping into a supervisory role as needed.
This position is ideal for someone who is a very competent all rounder with strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to hospitality maintenance. Key Responsibilities
Houseperson Duties:
- Respond promptly to guest requests, including delivering amenities, extra bedding, and in-room essentials.
- Load and unload linen trolleys, restock storerooms, and ensure room attendants have adequate supplies.
- Collect and prepare used linens for laundering.
- Maintain cleanliness in public areas, including the hotel foyer, lifts, stairways, and corridors.
- Handle cleaning chemicals safely and adhere to guest privacy and security protocols.
- Work collaboratively with the housekeeping team for efficient task completion.
- Report maintenance issues promptly for swift resolution.
- Manage rubbish disposal, including placing bins out for daily collection and handling hard waste.
Handyperson Duties:
- Perform minor repairs to furniture, fixtures, and fittings in guest rooms and public areas.
- Carry out touch-up painting and minor plaster repairs.
- Address plumbing-related tasks, such as unclogging drains and fixing minor leaks.
- Replace caulking and grout as needed.
- Respond to maintenance requests from guests and staff in a timely manner.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify and report issues requiring attention.
Room Attendant & Supervisory Duties:
- Work in pairs to clean and prepare guest rooms to luxury standards.
- Conduct quality control checks before guest arrivals to ensure rooms meet high presentation standards.
- Step into a supervisory role in the absence of the Executive Housekeeper, assisting with team coordination and support.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior housekeeping staff.
- Monitor housekeeping supplies and report stock levels to management.
- Liaise with reception and maintenance teams to ensure guest requests are handled efficiently.
- Adhere to workplace health and safety standards at all times.
Skills & Experience
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high cleanliness standards.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and contribute to a positive work environment.
- Previous experience as a Houseperson or Room Attendant in a hotel or similar hospitality setting.
- Supervisory experience preferred, or a willingness to take on leadership responsibilities.
- Physically fit and capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable, professional, and proactive work ethic.
- Experience with minor maintenance tasks such as patching, painting, caulking, and grout replacement is desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think on your feet.
- Comfortable with working some weekends and public holidays if required.
