About the role
Boutique Accounting Firm in South Yarra is seeking an Intermediate Tax Accountant to join our team. This part-time role will be responsible for providing valuable compliance and tax planning services to our diverse client base with a particular niche in the entertainment industry. We are a family focused firm and happy to work with the successful candidate to accommodate hours that suit all parties.

What you'll be doing

• Prepare Financial accounts and Tax Returns for Companies, Trusts, Partnership and Individual income tax returns and other tax-related documentation
• Conduct tax planning and advisory services, identifying opportunities for clients to minimise their tax obligations
• Analyse financial data and make recommendations to clients on tax-efficient strategies
• Liaise with clients, the ATO, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate tax compliance
• Stay up-to-date with changes in tax legislation and regulations, and advise clients accordingly
• Contribute to the development of tax-related policies, procedures, and best practices within the firm

What we're looking for

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting or a related field
• Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a tax accounting role, preferably in a public practice environment
• Strong understanding of Australian taxation laws, regulations, and compliance requirements
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify tax planning opportunities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex tax matters to clients
• Proficient in the use of Xero tax and accounting software
• Experience with Xero Practice Management System and FYI docs beneficial
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work
