MLC Accountants is a growing boutique public practice firm based in Merrylands, dedicated to providing exceptional accounting and taxation services to small and medium sized businesses. We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Intermediate Tax Accountant to join our team on a full-time or part-time basis. (Part-time minimum 3 days per week). Flexibility to work from home some of the time.

Key Responsibilities

Manage a portfolio of business clients across various industries

Prepare financial statements for all entity types: sole traders, partnerships, companies, trusts, and SMSFs

Prepare and lodge individual, partnership, company, trust, and SMSF tax returns

Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS)

Provide taxation advice and support tax planning strategies for clients

Liaise with the ATO and other government bodies as required

Mentor and support junior team members

Conduct tax research and deliver strategic tax advice

Skills and Experience

2–3 years of experience in public practice accounting in Australia

Skilled in preparing financial reports for companies, sole traders, partnerships, trusts, and SMSFs

Skilled in preparing tax returns for all types of entities

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

High attention to detail

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Strong organisational and time management abilities

Experience with accounting software such as MYOB, Xero, and MYOB AO Tax/Ledger (desirable)

Qualifications

Bachelors or masters degree in accounting (completed in Australia)

Studying or seeking to study towards CPA/CA qualifications – preferred but not compulsory
