Position overview
As the Development Compliance Officer, you will investigate alleged planning compliance breaches, provide specialist advice and take remedial action as appropriate. You’ll be detail oriented, recording evidence and writing reports and may be required to represent Council at VCAT as necessary.
Your key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining Council’s enforcement policy to ensure consistency and an equitable approach
  • Investigation of alleged breaches of relevant legislation, and taking remedial action when necessary.
  • Provision of specialist advice to stakeholders in the region and internal teams.
  • Stringent record keeping and report writing.

What we require from you (Key Selection Criteria):

  • Relevant experience in an enforcement-related position.
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills.
  • High levels of written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to deal effectively and diplomatically with complaints and enquiries.
  • Investigative and analytical skills.
  • Capacity to work as a member of a team.
  • Ability to perform complex tasks in a logical, efficient and organised manner.
  • Ability to interpret regulations and policies and apply precedents.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

If successful, you will need to undertake a police check. You must also be legally entitled to work in Australia.
