Our client, a leading government agency in Queensland, is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join their SEQ Capital Works team. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a leadership role in delivering high-quality capital works projects across the region. About the Role:
As a Senior Project Manager, you will oversee the full project lifecycle, ensuring infrastructure projects are delivered efficiently, cost-effectively, and to the highest standards. You will be responsible for project planning, procurement, construction management, and stakeholder engagement, all while maintaining compliance with government policies and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement project management plans, assessing procurement and delivery methodologies, risk, and value management.
- Prepare project reports, monitor progress against time, cost, and quality targets, and ensure alignment with government policies and WHS standards.
- Oversee the procurement and management of consultants, ensuring project briefs and tender documents are well-prepared and aligned with project goals.
- Manage the procurement and supervision of contractors, with expertise in both traditional and Design & Construct contracts.
- Act as the Principal's Representative and/or Contract Superintendent, ensuring compliance with Australian Standards and contract law.
- Lead project commissioning, handover documentation, and defect liability management.
- Provide leadership to project teams, mentoring and advising junior project managers.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Proven experience in client-side project management for building construction and upgrade projects within government or similar construction backgrounds
- A tertiary qualification in construction, project management, or a related field is highly regarded.
- Strong understanding of Australian Standard contracts, procurement processes, and stakeholder management.
- Excellent communication and collaborative leadership skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and guide project teams.
- Ability to prepare tender documents, consultancy briefs, and project reports.
- A proactive approach to process improvement and achieving project efficiencies.
