About the role

We manage a unique and diverse range of assets, including heritage-listed commercial buildings, award-winning libraries, and operationally critical depots. Our portfolio includes over 1,500 property interests worth $2.7 billion, covering assets such as building properties, footway agreements, vacant land, and road interests. This is a rare opportunity to contribute to the realisation of our Sustainable Sydney 2030–2050 vision by driving high-performance asset management.

As a Sustainability Asset Specialist, you’ll:

  • be solely accountable for, leading and taking ownership of the City's sustainability outcomes for the Property assets management requirements of plant and equipment in line with the City's sustainability objective - "As a team, we create and operate sustainable assets through collaboration and innovation to meet the needs of our growing city"
  • have direct accountability to establish and manage City's Property assets sustainability baseline and road map by identifying risks and opportunities to reduce carbon and water consumption, optimise asset performance and improve business outcomes, developing and implementing a best in class asset whole of life strategy from asset design, install, operate through to end of life
  • manage a diverse range of stakeholders, while fostering strong relationships through collaboration with Sustainability teams throughout the City, as well as the Property Technical Services and Business Services Teams to drive positive outcomes.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • tertiary qualifications or significant experience at a senior management level with extensive knowledge and experience in managing and driving sustainability initiatives
  • expertise and significant experience in negotiating and managing sustainability agreements and targets, and complying with regulatory requirements
  • demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development to resolve complex sustainability-related issues efficiently.

This role has the option of a rostered day off each month, known as a 19-day month.
