Power Systems Engineer

Our WA Power Systems team, the largest in the state, has a history of excellence, working on cutting-edge projects with AEMO, NSPs, and renewable energy developers. From the SWIS, NWIS, and NEM networks, you'll collaborate with over 90 Power Systems Engineers across ANZ, contributing to projects that push the boundaries of innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop detailed models for static, dynamic, and electromagnetic studies
• Undertake specialised power system studies (including RMS and EMT)
• Conduct connection studies, model validation for new generation/loads
• Design control and protection systems for renewable energy projects
• Lead project deliverables, managing resources and timelines
• Provide technical mentorship and supervision within the team

Qualifications and Experience:

As a minimum all candidates must have the following:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years of industry experience
• Solid knowledge of power system principles and software (DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, PSS/E, or ETAP)
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with an enthusiastic approach
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desirable but not essential:

• Postgraduate degree in engineering
• Proficiency in Python; knowledge of FORTRAN preferred
• CPEng or NER registrations
• Project management and team leadership skills
• Experience in protection and earthing systems (incl. CDEGS modelling)
• Experience in R2 testing and HV commissioning works
• Willingness to work as a part of multidisciplinary teams to end-to-end solutions to clients
• Research publications or active participation in technical communities
