About the Project
This role will oversee one of Australia's largest battery energy storage systems (BESS), providing critical grid stability and renewable energy integration for Southeast Queensland:
- Capacity: 520 MW / 1856 MWh (Stages 1 and 2, with further expansion planned)
- Services: Frequency control, grid stability, energy arbitrage, and network support
- Connection: Major substation hub connecting to Queensland's transmission network

The Role
As Operations and Asset Manager, you will lead the operational readiness and ongoing performance optimization of a major battery storage facility. This is a pivotal position offering the unique opportunity to shape the future of large-scale energy storage in Australia while building a long-term career with a rapidly expanding renewable developer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive operational readiness for project completion
- Implement asset management strategy to maximize performance and commercial outcomes
- Ensure technical compliance, reliability, and safety excellence
- Manage subcontractors and team members to meet contractual requirements
- Coordinate with the Owner's Engineer and manage project punch-lists and warranty periods
- Lead stakeholder engagement with market operators, network providers, and regulators
- Develop and implement optimization strategies across multiple revenue streams
What You'll Bring
Essential Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, or related discipline
- 5+ years' experience in power generation or energy storage
- Demonstrated asset management expertise preferably in the renewable energy sector
- Strong understanding of BESS operations within AEMO/NEM frameworks
- Proficiency with asset management software and analytical tools
Desired Qualifications:
- Post-graduate qualifications in Engineering or Business
- Professional certifications (CFA, CMA, MBA)
- Experience with similar-scale BESS facilities
- Project management and/or engineering certification (PMP, RegPM, MIEAust, CPEng, NPER)
- Experience spanning engineering design, construction, commissioning, operations transition, and asset management

- Commercial and technical acumen with the ability to optimize asset value

Technical Expertise Required
Battery Technology & Operations:
- In-depth knowledge of utility-scale battery storage systems
- Understanding of cell chemistry, thermal management, BMS, and inverter technologies
- Experience with performance testing and verification of large-scale battery systems
Market Operations:
- Comprehensive understanding of NEM operation, bidding mechanisms, and price formation
- Knowledge of FCAS markets, contingency services, and regulation services
- Ability to optimize asset participation across multiple revenue streams
Regulatory & Compliance:
- Thorough understanding of the regulatory framework governing generator operations in the NEM
- Knowledge of Generator Performance Standards and AEMO operating procedures
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and safety standards specific to energy storage
