Our client, a key player in Australia's steel manufacturing and distribution sector, is seeking an experienced State Operations Manager to lead state-wide operations in NSW. This role is ideal for a seasoned operations leader or a high-performing Site Operations Manager ready to step up.

Role Purpose

The State Operations Manager is responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of reinforcing bar, prefabrication, and related services across NSW. This includes ensuring operations are appropriately resourced, cost-effective, and meet all quality and compliance requirements while delivering on time and in full. The role requires strong leadership in operations, planning, financial performance, and workforce management to drive business success.

Critical Experience (Must-Have)

  • Operational, management, and leadership experience in a complex, high-volume environment.
  • P&L management expertise, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Industry experience in construction and heavy manufacturing with a strong understanding of markets, customers, competitors, trends, and innovations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive state-wide operational performance, aligning with business goals.
  • Lead a safety-first culture, ensuring compliance with all quality, regulatory, and corporate governance requirements.
  • Manage and mentor site managers, supervisors, and operations teams across multiple locations.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and cash conversion cycles to optimize efficiency.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, leveraging best practices in manufacturing, supply chain, and logistics.
