About the Role
Reporting to the Community Animal Shelter Operation Supervisor the core responsibilities include:

  • Support the Operations Supervisor and Shelter admin team in developing and maintaining administration systems and procedures to ensure accountability in line with organisational policies and procedures.
  • Assist the Shelter to operate in accordance with the Code of Practice for the Management of Dogs and Cats in Shelters and Pounds and all relevant legislation, codes, and industry standards.
  • Manage in house initiatives and projects from initiation to completion, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
  • Oversee the implementation of compliance frameworks across projects, ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of projects, identifying and mitigating potential risks related to compliance.
  • Assist with cleaning and maintaining of animal housing when required.
  • Support the Operations Supervisor with invoicing, purchasing materials and equipment required for day-to-day operations at the Shelter including rostering of staff.

About You

  • Strong background in council compliance, particularly in animal welfare management and relevant legislation.
  • Oversee animal welfare processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Conduct thorough animal welfare assessments and provide expert recommendations.
  • Utilise veterinary nurse or technician skills to assess and manage animal health and wellbeing.
  • Deliver a range of programs and initiatives focused on animal welfare, ensuring successful outcomes.
  • Provide project management oversight for various in-house animal welfare-related programs, from planning through to execution.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure animal welfare initiatives align with regulatory standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of animal welfare programs and adjust strategies as needed.
