About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Business Support Officer to join our Governance & Risk team. Reporting to the Manager – Governance & Risk, this role plays a vital part in providing high-level administrative and secretarial support to the Manager and Team Leaders. The successful candidate will contribute to key projects and initiatives that align with the Unit’s operational and strategic goals as outlined in the Council Plan.

In this role, you will deliver trusted and confidential administrative support, including drafting correspondence, preparing reports and presentations, coordinating events, managing workflows, purchasing, and procurement processes. You will assist with diary and inbox management, schedule and document meetings, and handle sensitive enquiries with professionalism and discretion.

You will also collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders, building strong relationships across the organisation to ensure timely and person-focused service delivery. Your ability to adapt to competing priorities, maintain confidentiality, and work with a politically astute mindset will be key to your success in this role.

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Proven ability to provide high-level administrative support to senior leaders.
  • Experience in Governance and Local Government, or a similar political and highly confidential environment.
  • Experienced in using the MS Office suite, Information Management Systems, and other relevant software programs.
  • Skilled in working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and building productive, effective relationships.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to manage workload.
  • Business Administration qualifications would be advantageous.
