About the role

As the visionary Team Leader, you will be at the forefront of coordinating a range of crucial collaborative and person-centred services, including crisis support, case management, advocacy, home safety upgrades and court support. Your leadership will be the driving force behind the delivery of these essential services in Townsville, ensuring advanced contemporary practice through continuous improvement.

You will inspire and guide a team towards achieving their goals, while fostering a positive and inclusive work environment. You will also play an active role as part of the Leadership Team contributing to the organisation’s innovative and collaborative strategic direction.

  • SCHADS Level 6.1
  • Relocation package subject to negotiation

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate they are able to meet the following Selection Criteria:

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree level qualification in a relevant human services discipline (or 5 years’ experience in a similar field will be considered).
  • Minimum of 3 years’ full time equivalent professional experience in a relevant human services discipline.
  • Advanced experience working with current legislation (Domestic and Family Violence Act 2012, Child Protection Act 1999), Common Risk Assessment Framework and DFV Information Sharing Guidelines.
  • Proven experience leading a team, including line managing and supervising staff and providing direction and specialist practice advise.

Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Comprehensive knowledge of domestic and family violence, including the principles of trauma-informed practice, crisis intervention and counselling, application of appropriate risk assessment and response and an understanding of high-risk indicators and protective factors.
  • Advanced capability in complex decision-making, balancing safety, best practice, resource limitations and desired outcomes.
  • Accomplished and able to adapt and tailor approaches to ensure genuine cultural capability for self and staff to meet the context and experience of First Nations peoples.
  • Advanced understanding of the complex ways in which children are harmed through experiencing violence, and the tactics of control and abuse of power that they experience.
  • Able to proactively drive a focus on outcomes and evidence in organisational performance.
  • Advanced ability to apply a proactive approach to risk, compliance, and safety at practice and program levels.
  • Able to lead the establishment and regular review of policies and practices to ensure organisational compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to refer to expert knowledge to inform decision making, program design, tenders, and submissions.

Required Competencies

  • Advanced ability to engage in critical reflection and support the development of practice accountability across the team and continuous improvement to ensure alignment with practice standards.
  • Personal values are strongly aligned to organisational values and strategic plan and supports others to remain connected to purpose.
  • Advanced ability to manage constant demands at an individual and organisational level, dealing with the unexpected whilst remaining calm and focused, with a positive, can-do, and resourceful approach and supports others to do the same.
  • Emotionally intelligent and aware, with a keen sense of critical self-reflection, able to keep a sense of perspective about the stories heard and remain connected as part of a resilient approach.

Required Screening

  • Current QLD C Class Driver’s License which must remain current during the term of employment.
  • Working with Children Check (Blue Card) which must remain current during the term of employment.
  • Australia: National Police Check Clearance – at organisation expense.
