About This Opportunity

The Centre Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the operations of our nationally dispersed ARC Training Centre. Reporting to the Centre Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating Centre activities, fostering strategic relationships with key stakeholders, and driving initiatives that contribute to the Centre's mission of training the next generation of plant and animal breeders.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with academic and professional staff across all five Centre Nodes.
  • Lead the planning and execution of in-person events and workshops, including venue selection, budget management, travel arrangements, and onsite coordination.
  • Coordinate the development and delivery of online courses through the Centre's eLearning platform.
  • Support the Centre's early career researchers through managing travel, organising industry placements, and facilitating professional development opportunities.
  • Monitor and report on Centre KPIs, collaborating with the Centre Manager to analyse performance trends.
  • Provide administrative support to the Centre Director, Centre Manager, and Centre committees.

About You

  • A university degree with at least four (4) years' subsequent relevant experience; or extensive experience in project coordination, research administration or related field.
  • Experience working in higher education or research environments.
  • Experience coordinating events, workshops, or training programs.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, influencing, and negotiation skills with demonstrated ability to build both internal and external relationships and networks with key stakeholders.
  • Ability to provide critical advice and clarity of direction for a research centre (spanning disciplines, cultures, career stage, gender, community, industry, government).
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines, solve problems independently, work under own guidance and as part of a team.
  • Proactive problem-solver with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and digital collaboration tools.
  • Highly developed written communication skills.
