The Opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to step into a leadership role within a highly regarded government agency.

You will oversee the Pay and Conditions team, ensuring the smooth delivery of payroll functions and compliance with organisational requirements.

The Role

As the Assistant Director, Pay and Conditions, you will lead a team responsible for payroll and conditions management while driving operational improvements and strategic outcomes.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing the Pay and Conditions team to ensure high-quality payroll and advisory services
  • Overseeing payroll administration, including pay processing, cycle checks, leave provisions, reporting, and SAP technical support
  • Managing payroll reporting and analytics to provide insights for business decisions
  • Working with stakeholders to ensure compliance and best practice in payroll operations
  • Providing expert advice on SAP payroll systems and supporting system upgrades and maintenance
  • Managing projects and significant system changes related to payroll and conditions
  • Contributing to policy development and continuous improvement initiatives

The Ideal Person

You are an experienced payroll professional with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of SAP payroll systems.

Your ability to manage a team, oversee complex payroll processes, and provide strategic advice will be key to your success in this role.

You thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Your skill set includes:

  • Demonstrated experience in payroll management, including SAP payroll systems
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to extract and present data-driven insights
  • High-level organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
  • A collaborative and solutions-focused approach to stakeholder engagement

Salary / Rate

  • $113k - $136k + 15.4% Super
  • Open to permanent S26 Transfer or 18 month non ongoing
  • Current security clearance required or the ability to obtain
