Our client is an internationally acclaimed womenswear brand and are they are seeking a talented Designer/Developer (Junior to Midweight level) to join their creative team. About the Role
This role offers a unique chance to bring your creative vision and skills to life while working alongside a passionate team that values innovation and craftsmanship. As a Junior/Midweight Developer/Designer, you will play a key role in creating pieces that resonate with modern women and elevate the brand’s renowned identity. From ideation to execution, you’ll drive the creative process and contribute to collections that exude sophistication and timeless appeal.
Key Responsibilities
Design / Development -
- Attend fabric and print appointments and email inquiries and follow up as required.
- Liaise with factories through the entire design development process through to SMS stage.
- Design and re-colour prints, send strike-off requests to suppliers.
- Approve print artwork/strike off with Head of Design & Senior Designer and communicate comments to suppliers.
- Arrange colour standards for lab dipping with suppliers.
- Communicate approvals for colours and communicate with suppliers.
- Creation of sourcing packs for fabrics, trims, hardware, buttons, and send to suppliers.
- Prepare unique trim artworks to send to suppliers.
- Set up storyboards and ranging documents, including colouring CADs for each style.
- Work through CAD designs as requested by Head of Design & Senior Designer.
Sampling & SMS -
- Process sampling orders with factories, including booking of SMS.
- Liaise with suppliers regarding price and sampling delivery.
- Maintain costing template.
- Assist with fittings and proto comments as required.
- Manage SMS timeline and delivery, with assistance from GT.
Other -
- Set up design sheets after design handover, including adding sketches, selecting an appropriate factory, adding fabric and season details, allocating style numbers, and updating BOM
- Set up tech packs for and send them to suppliers.
- Contribute to weekly team meetings according to critical path dates set by the Production Manager.
- Negotiate initial FOB prices with suppliers.
- Update BOM with final fabric and trim details after SMS fitting for GT to send to factories.
Skills and Qualifications
- Proven experience in womenswear design, with a portfolio showcasing contemporary yet timeless creations.
- Strong understanding of garment construction, textiles, and pattern-making.
- Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- An eye for detail and an innate ability to translate creative ideas into commercially successful designs.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, thriving in a fast-paced team environment.
- You must be comfortable doing CAD’s at a high standard
