Your Role at St John of God Midland Public & Private Hospitals

You will be part of our Infectious diseases team and provide high quality care to both inpatients and outpatients, while also supporting infection prevention and control programs. You will mentor the junior staff through education and supervision all while being supported by some of Perth's best Medical Consultants.

We are offering a six-month contract starting in August 2025.

The Position

  • Manages patient care under the direction/supervision of consultants and ensures a detailed history and physical examination and management plan are done for each presentation /admission and documents these findings in the medical records.
  • Provide Infectious diseases and General Medicine consultations
  • Support podiatry in the management of complex diabetic foot ulcer infections and complications
  • Attend and manage patients in the Hospital in the Home Clinic
  • Educational opportunities
  • Responsible for setting up the remote link to the weekly joint Midland and Royal Perth Hospital (RPH) Infectious Disease clinical meetings
  • Journal club - attend and present at the joint Midland/RPH Journal Club
  • WAIDEM - attend and present at the monthly statewide case report presentations on Infectious diseases
  • Provide clinical supervision and teaching to junior staff
  • Contributes to all aspects of clinical care of patients who are admitted to hospital; commit to a team approach in the delivery of care, working closely with nursing staff, allied health professionals, members of pastoral care services, and other clinicians both onsite and offsite
  • Lead or supervise documentation (minimum daily) of all relevant details of the patients' care while in hospital, admission history and examination, results of investigations, care plan, interdisciplinary consultation advice, follow-up plans
  • Participate in emergency MER calls and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • Commitment to after-hours roster as directed

You will have registration with the Medical Board of Australia, and either be a Registrar or Senior Registrar currently in/or applying for the BPT program or eligible for advanced training.

You will have excellent communications skills and be able to demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team

  • Salary: $120,492 to $185,418 per annum, plus 11.5 % superannuation
  • Professional development allowance $ 00 to $15671.00 pro rata per Annum if part time
