About us:

Rockhampton Hospital has a 17 bed General Paediatric Ward, as part of new development and a 6 bed Special Care Nursery (this is expanding to 12 beds in the near future). It is the hub centre for Central Queensland, accepting referrals in consultation with the Paediatrician and Qnets of children and neonates who can be managed within the resources available.

The hospital has a busy Paediatric outpatient's department reviewing a wide variety of paediatric conditions and includes a diabetic clinic. Outreach clinics are undertaken to towns in the region, including an Aboriginal Community. It is planned to expand these services.

The Principal House Officer or Registrar - Paediatric post provides excellent teaching in a supportive environment. Your role will involve supporting the Senior Medical Staff in ensuring the Paediatric services provided by the Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service, Rockhampton Hospital, are of the highest standard and delivered in an efficient and effective manner.

About you:
  • Evidence of successful completion of IELTS or equivalent English Language test results within the last year
  • Evidence of successful completion AMC MCQ (part 1) examination
  • Evidence of recency of clinical practice, supported by current references
  • Where qualifications were obtained outside Australia, the candidate must be eligible for registration with AHPRA (Level 3 Supervision) and provide the following:
  • Current Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS) and Neoresus certification.
  • MBBS or equivalent to be eligible for registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia, Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) at Level 3 supervision.

Salary information:

Total remuneration value of up to $169,083 p.a. is comprised of:

  • A salary rate between $125,808 - $138,571 p.a. (L4-L7)
  • A salary rate between $125,808 - $145,865 p.a. (L4-L9)
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
