Our client are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Claims Handler to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will bring extensive knowledge in handling claims, with a strong preference for experience in ISR (Industrial Special Risks) insurance.

This role offers the opportunity to lead claims management activities, work closely with key stakeholders, and drive continuous improvements in claims handling processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of complex and high-value claims, including ISR and commercial claims.
  • Review and assess the validity of claims, ensuring accurate evaluation of liability, coverage, and reserves.
  • Liaise with policyholders, brokers, and service providers to facilitate the smooth management of claims.
  • Provide technical expertise and advice to internal and external stakeholders regarding claims issues.
  • Negotiate settlements with claimants, ensuring fair and timely resolutions.
  • Monitor the progress of claims and ensure adherence to relevant policies, legal requirements, and industry standards.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members in claims handling processes and best practices.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of improvements to claims management processes.
  • Work closely with underwriters and legal teams to ensure claims are managed effectively.
  • Prepare and deliver detailed claims reports to senior management.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, legislative changes, and claims management best practices.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years' experience in claims handling, with a preference for ISR experience.
  • Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of insurance principles, claims handling procedures, and industry regulations.
  • Technical Skills: Strong technical ability in assessing and managing commercial insurance claims, with expertise in ISR claims preferred.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage stakeholder relationships effectively.
  • Negotiation Skills: Proven ability to negotiate settlements and manage complex claims scenarios.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail in assessing claims and ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Problem Solving: Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex situations and provide timely solutions.
  • Team Leadership: Ability to lead and mentor junior claims handlers, promoting a culture of continuous learning and development.
