About the role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Chef / Tandoor Specialist/Dosa Specialist to join our team at Sankalp The Taste of India in Hillcrest, SA 5086. As a full-time role, you will play a vital part in delivering our authentic Indian cuisine and exceptional dining experience to our customers.

What you'll be doing

• Preparing and cooking a range of traditional and contemporary Indian dishes using specialised tandoor ovens
• Maintaining high standards of food preparation, presentation and quality control
• Assisting in menu planning and recipe development to ensure our offerings remain innovative and appealing
• Adhering to all food hygiene and safety regulations in the kitchen
• Providing guidance and support to junior kitchen staff to uphold our high standards
• Contributing to a positive, collaborative team environment in the kitchen

What we're looking for

• Minimum 3-5 years' experience as a Chef or Tandoor Specialist in an Indian restaurant or similar high-quality establishment
• Formal culinary training and qualifications in Indian cuisine
• Exceptional skills in preparing and cooking a wide range of authentic Indian dishes, particularly tandoor-based specialities
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and presentation
• Ability to work efficiently and collaboratively in a fast-paced kitchen environment
• Excellent time management and organisational skills
• Good communication and customer service skills
