Located 9km north of Rockhampton, Binbi Yadabay (meaning Healthy Beginnings) is residential program offering withdrawal (8 beds) and rehabilitation (32 beds) services. We also have a family recovery program (2 units) where parents can come with their children, aged 10 and under, to participate in the residential treatment program.
Treatment is delivered over a period of 6 to 12 weeks where our multidisciplinary team provide a safe, supportive, and structured environment for recovery.
Your Opportunity
The AOD Support Worker role includes assisting with group sessions, taking clients to appointments, supervising self-administration of medication, and maintaining client records. Working as a Support Worker at our Binbi Yadubay residential alcohol and drug treatment centre, you’ll provide support and supervision to clients undertaking the treatment program.
We have multiple casual opportunities available. The roles will include a mixture of morning, afternoon, and overnight shifts on a 7-day roster. The gross hourly pay rate ranges between $37 and $40 per hour plus super and casual loading on top of this pay rate.
What you’ll bring
This role requires a positive can-do attitude. You need to be reliable, motivated and committed and have a genuine interest in working within the Alcohol and Other Drugs sector.
Your qualifications, skills and experience will include:
- Must hold a Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs, Community Services or other relevant field
- Flexibility and the ability to manage competing demands
- A team player who can work well in a multidisciplinary team – you will lend support to others when needed
- Being an excellent communicator – you’ll feel comfortable engaging with a range of people from different walks of life, in a non-judgemental and supportive way
- A friendly, open, and positive attitude – building relationships to support clients, and providing them with a positive role-model, will be a big part of your role
- Emotional maturity and a calm demeanour, especially in high-pressure or conflict situations
- Working within professional boundaries with a solid understanding of how to practice these with clients and colleagues
- Resilience – You have experience and feel comfortable working with people that experience dynamic or changing emotional states.
- Strong computer skills, experience with client note-taking and an understanding of how handovers work.
You will need to hold a Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or ability to obtain this, and a current Australian Drivers Licence.
