Elouera is a residential service for women who need support in rehabilitation from alcohol and other drugs and is situated on a peaceful property in Orange. Elouera offers specialist child-focused support which enables clients to have their children (under 10) remain with them during the six to twelve-week program.

Your Opportunity

The AOD Support Worker role includes client supervision outside of normal program hours, day to day client support, taking clients to appointments, supervising self-administration of medication, and maintaining client records.

Working as a Support Worker at our Elouera residential alcohol and drug treatment centre for women, you’ll provide support and supervision to clients undertaking the treatment program.

We have casual roles available, which include a mixture of morning, afternoon, and overnight shifts on a 7-day roster. Salary for this role is between $37.35 - $40.05 per hour plus casual loading.

What you’ll bring

You will be motivated, committed, and have a genuine interest in working within the Alcohol and Other Drugs sector. Your skills and attributes will include:

  • You will need to either hold, be working towards, or willing to obtain a Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs, Mental Health, Community Services or other relevant field.
  • Flexibility and commitment to working a 24/7 roster pattern which may include evening shifts – and feeling comfortable working in an autonomous role.
  • Being an excellent communicator – you’ll be able to engage with a range of people from different walks of life, in a non-judgemental and supportive way.
  • A friendly, open, and positive attitude – building relationships to support clients, and providing them with a positive role-model, will be a big part of your role.
  • Emotional maturity and a calm demeanour, especially in high-pressure or conflict situations.
  • Working within professional boundaries with a solid understanding of how to practice these with clients and colleagues.
  • You’ll self-care – this role can be challenging and it’s important to us that you are at your best, to do your best.
  • Being willing, engaged and comfortable with change – we welcome ideas and suggestions for improvement.
  • Strong computer skills, experience with client note-taking and an understanding of how handovers work.
  • Current Australian Drivers Licence.

To be female is a genuine requirement for this position under Section 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW) and Section 30 of the Sex Discrimination Act 1984 (Cth).

Most importantly, you’ll live and breathe our values, which means:

  • You are humble, human, and full of hope
  • You show up and share
  • You ask: Why not? And what’s next?
  • You leave a positive wake
