Lives Lived Well offer a variety of community and residential Alcohol and Other Drug programs throughout Queensland, New South Wales, and South Australia, helping thousands of people every year to navigate AOD related challenges and move forward in life.

A new 28-bed residential rehabilitation centre is opening in Bundaberg. This facility will provide withdrawal support (detox) and residential rehabilitation services in a safe and supportive environment, aimed at promoting lasting change.

The service opens in March, and we are looking for people to join our new team to make an impact in the Bundaberg community.

Your Opportunity

The AOD Support Worker role includes client supervision outside of normal program hours, day to day client support, taking clients to appointments, supervising self-administration of medication, and maintaining client records.

Working as a Support Worker at our Bundaberg residential alcohol and drug treatment centre for adults, you’ll provide support and supervision to clients undertaking the treatment program.

“I feel honoured that clients allow me to walk alongside them in their time of need, so they don’t feel so alone.” (LLW Employee Quote)

We have casual roles available, which include a mixture of morning, afternoon, and overnight shifts on a 7-day roster. You will need to be flexible around being available at short notice. Hourly rate is between $46 - $50 per hour and we will provide ongoing training and development opportunities.

What you’ll bring

You don’t need to hold a formal qualification for this role, but you do need to be motivated, committed, and have a genuine interest in working within the Alcohol and Other Drugs sector. Your skills and attributes will include:

  • Flexibility and commitment to working a 24/7 roster pattern which may include night shifts – and feeling comfortable working in an autonomous role
  • Being an excellent communicator – you’ll be able to engage with a range of people from different walks of life, in a non-judgemental and supportive way
  • A friendly, open, and positive attitude – building relationships to support clients, and providing them with a positive role-model, will be a big part of your role
  • Emotional maturity and a calm demeanour, especially in high-pressure or conflict situations
  • Working within professional boundaries with a solid understanding of how to practice these with clients and colleagues
  • You’ll self-care – this role can be challenging and it’s important to us that you are at your best, to do your best
  • Being willing, engaged and comfortable with change – we welcome ideas and suggestions for improvement
  • Strong computer skills, experience with client note-taking and an understanding of how handovers work

You will need to hold a current Australian Drivers Licence, and either hold, be working towards, or willing to obtain a Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs, Mental Health, Community Services or other relevant field. You will also need to be willing to obtain your First Aid and CPR Certificate.

Our values are important to us, so you’ll need to evidence that you align with these.

“The reason I’m in this job and what matters to me the most is being able to help others. I really like the organisational values around leaving a positive wake”. (LLW Employee Quote)
