Sous Chef (Permanent, Full Time)
Are you an experienced and passionate chef looking for the next step in your career? We are seeking a Sous Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team at Macthom Pty Ltd. As the second-in-command, you will play a crucial role in leading kitchen operations, ensuring exceptional food quality, and supporting the Head Chef in delivering an outstanding dining experience.
About the Role:
As a Sous Chef, you will oversee daily kitchen operations, manage staff, and ensure high standards of food preparation, presentation, and hygiene. You will assist in menu planning, staff training, and maintaining efficient workflows in a high-paced kitchen environment.
Location: Margaret River, Western Australia
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting the Head Chef in kitchen management and daily operations
- Leading and mentoring the kitchen team to ensure efficiency and consistency
- Ensuring all dishes are prepared to high-quality standards and presentation
- Overseeing food safety, hygiene, and compliance with health regulations
- Managing stock control, ordering supplies, and minimizing waste
- Assisting with menu planning, recipe development, and cost control
- Supervising and training junior chefs/cooks.
What We’re Looking For:
- An acceptable qualification to Diploma or Certificate IV level or an apprenticeship in a relevant field.
- 1 to 3 years of experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar senior kitchen role.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Passion for food, creativity, and innovation in the kitchen.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Excellent knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in the afternoon, weekends and public holidays.
