About the role
Bread In Common is seeking an experienced and talented Sous Chef to join our dynamic team in our Fremantle, Western Australia location. As a full-time Sous Chef, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our Head Chef/executive chef and overseeing the day-to-day kitchen operations. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious culinary professional to further develop their skills in a vibrant, collaborative environment.
What you'll be doing
- Assisting the Head Chef in menu planning, recipe development and food cost management
- Overseeing kitchen staff, delegating tasks and ensuring high standards of food preparation and presentation
- Maintaining strict adherence to food safety and hygiene regulations
- Providing hands-on support in the kitchen during busy periods
- Fostering a positive and productive team culture
- Collaborating with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth service and exceptional customer experiences
What we're looking for
- A minimum of 2-3 years' experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within a fast-paced, high-quality hospitality environment
- A strong understanding of food safety, kitchen operations and cost control
- Excellent culinary skills, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for creating delicious, innovative dishes
- Exceptional leadership and people management abilities, with the capacity to motivate and develop a team
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Adaptability and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
