About the role
As the Field Officer, you will:
• Identify opportunities and undertake activities which advocate and promote the benefits of training, skills development; VET pathway options; workforce development initiatives and the department's offerings across employment programs and services to clients and stakeholders including employers, schools, training organisations, community-based organisations, industry bodies, enterprises, and individuals.
• Strengthen the vocational education and training system in the region by developing and maintaining professional collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders through a wide range of capacity building initiatives and project management activities.
• Provide a high-level service in the application of relevant corporate governance procedures of the department including team building, quality service delivery, event planning and delivery, project management, customer satisfaction, record keeping, occupational health and safety, employment equity and anti-discrimination practices.

What we are looking for
The position requires an applicant who has:
• Knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of, the vocational education and training sector in Queensland; workforce development issues impacting on Queensland workplaces and the programs administered by the department.
• An ability to research, collect and analyse data, investigate issues, manage projects, make decisions and recommendations to achieve regional objectives within a corporate governance framework.
• An ability to develop and maintain a positive work environment by adopting a principled approach, and ensuring advice provided to colleagues, internal and external stakeholders and clients is timely, accurate, appropriate and of high quality.
• High level verbal, written and interpersonal skills including demonstrated face to face liaison, consultation, conflict resolution, problem solving, negotiation skills, public speaking and report writing, working with individuals, training organisations, community-based organisations, enterprises, and industry sectors.

Refer to the Role Description for a full list of responsibilities and what we are looking for.

How to apply
To enable us to assess your suitability, your applications should include:
• Your current resume detailing your previous work or voluntary experience including two referees who have a thorough knowledge of your conduct and performance over the past 2 years, or an appropriate period.
• We will use your resume to assess how well you meet ‘What are we looking for' statements.
2. Tell us about you:
• Provide a short statement (of no more than one page) telling us why you are interested in this role and outlining what your motivation is to join us.
• This should not be a restatement of your resume and does not require you to address the ‘What are we looking for' statements. The short statement is your opportunity to tell us about yourself, what you will bring to the role and what you will get out of it.

Applications to remain current for 12 months.
