Established over twenty years ago, Diverse Asset Maintenance Services (DAMS) has emerged as the trusted provider of outdoor parks and garden care, trades maintenance, treeworks, commercial cleaning, and general maintenance services in Mackay. DAMS is known for its reliability and operates across four key sectors: Tree Care & Arboriculture, Grounds & Outdoor Maintenance, Landscaping Services, and Commercial Property Maintenance.

DAMS’ is dedicated to delivering exceptional service to clients reliably, efficiently and professionally with a client base spanning major corporations, multinational companies, mining affiliates, government agencies, educational institutions, and both commercial and residential properties.

About You

You have a proven track record of driving business growth through strategic business development initiatives. You are confident in navigating contract negotiations, aligning workforce strategies with growth objectives, and optimising financial performance to support sustainable expansion.

Your New Role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director/Chief Financial Officer and working in close collaboration with the Operations Manager as a peer, you will ensure that business development efforts align seamlessly with service delivery and operational execution.

You will play a pivotal role in driving business growth, maintaining strong relationships, identifying new opportunities, expanding the client base, and strengthen existing partnerships to enhance DAMS's market position. Your role will also include financial oversight to support business sustainability, and you will oversee HR and workforce planning, ensuring DAMS attracts, develops and retains a high performing team.

This opportunity offer a competitive salary ranging from $130K to $150K plus superannuation, a performance -based bonus structure, and a company vehicle rewarding your contributions to the business.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Financial Management
Purpose: Ensure financial sustainability through effective planning, cost control, and profitability optimisation.
Responsibilities:

  • Develop budgets, forecasts, and financial plans to support business growth in collaboration with the Managing Director/Chief Financial Officer.
  • Monitor cash flow, optimise costs, and implement cost control measures.
  • Report on financial performance and implement strategies to improve margins and efficiency.

Business Development
Purpose: Drive business growth through strategic client acquisition, onboarding, and retention initiatives.
Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement targeted business development strategies to expand the client base.
  • Drive brand awareness, lead generation, and market positioning through innovative marketing initiatives, contributing to growth and stronger customer loyalty.
  • Prepare competitive proposals and oversee seamless client onboarding processes.
  • Monitor lead conversion rates and client retention metrics to drive sustainable growth.

Client Relationship Management
Purpose: Foster long-term, trust-based relationships that enhance client satisfaction and loyalty.
Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain a deep understanding of client goals, preferences, and challenges.
  • Resolve challenges swiftly and deliver tailored solutions to enhance client satisfaction.
  • Implement strategies to strengthen client engagement and foster loyalty.

Human Resources & Workforce Planning
Purpose: Attract, develop, and retain a high-performing, engaged workforce.
Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective recruitment and onboarding programs and ensure smooth integration into the business.
  • Oversee all HR functions, including engagement strategies, payroll and addressing grievances, resolving conflicts and ensuring workplace harmony.
  • Create and maintain a succession planning framework to ensure leadership continuity and long-term business growth.

Leadership, Development and Engagement
Purpose: To inspire and lead team to achieve measurable outcomes and to foster a positive and accountant workplace culture.
Responsibilities:

  • Lead the small operational support team by providing guidance, feedback, and support while fostering a culture of accountability and continual improvement.

Risk and Compliance Management
Purpose: Safeguard the business through effective risk identification, mitigation, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:

  • Manage contract reviews and ensure alignment with operational goals.
  • Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and oversee compliance with safety and legal standards.
  • Monitor policies and ensure adherence to contractual and regulatory obligations.

Technology and Systems Adoption
Purpose: Leverage technology to streamline operations and position the business for future growth.
Responsibilities:

  • Identify, implement, and optimise systems that improve efficiency and reporting.
  • Drive process automation initiatives to enhance productivity and scalability.

Asset Management
Purpose: Ensure operational continuity through effective capital replacement.
Responsibilities:

  • Working with the Operations Manager develop and manage a Capital Replacement Program to plan for asset renewal.

Role Requirements

  • Minimum 5 year experience in a similar role, ideally in asset maintenance or related industry.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial management.
  • Demonstrated expertise in business development, with a proven ability to implement targeted strategies to expand and diversify client bases.
  • Experienced in HR management and workforce planning, including recruitment, engagement strategies, performance management and payroll.
  • Ability to implement systems and leverage technology for operational improvement.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant software systems, including financial tools such as Xero and Reckon.
  • Knowledge of ‘Field Service and Asset Management Platforms’ advantageous.
