eSafety's Strategic Policy and Tech Futures Team promotes online safety by working to anticipate and address challenges in online safety policy and regulation, including those associated with emerging technologies, such as generative AI and immersive technology.
The team seeks to influence the strategic direction of online safety policy, regulation, and legislation by providing subject matter expertise and advice on online harms, online safety, and new and emerging technologies. This includes:
- engaging across a variety of sectors including with academia, government and civil society
- contributing to national policy, legislation and regulation related to online safety, technology, and cross-cutting issues
- undertaking strategic coordination and engagement internally across eSafety and across the broader government on online safety issues and cross-cutting policy and technology issues
- conducting horizon scanning and research on emerging online safety challenges and opportunities
- providing strategic advice across the agency.
This is an exciting opportunity to engage in online safety and technology policy, respond to global regulatory challenges, and promote online safety at a critical juncture.
As a Policy and Project Officer in the Strategic Policy and Tech Futures team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to whole of Australian Government initiatives and eSafety’s position on novel and exciting online safety challenges. You will support eSafety’s regulatory capability with expert knowledge and insights.
