LOVE ART AND CULTURE?

We are looking for a Marketing and Project Assistant.

The Project and Marketing Assistant position provides vital support to projects, ensuring the development and implementation of successful projects, including public art commissions, corporate art collections, and public art strategies.

It assists with project implementation through curatorial research and presentation building, template design and creative branding, artist research and liaison, quality control and delivery of artistic outcomes on site, and meetings and events.

This role manages our business’ branding and online presence through high-quality visual design and writing, expanding our audience and potential project opportunities.

This position requires managing competing deadlines, working autonomously and collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment, and being conscientious and energetic. It also requires a passion for contemporary art and beautiful design.

Experience in the arts, design, or built environment industries will be regarded favourably but is not a requirement.

This position reports to the Operations Manager and Director. It is an ongoing part-time role.

SPECS OF ROLE

  • TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Pa, subject to a six-month probationary review.
  • HOURS: The operations manager and director will agree upon specified weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., occasionally requiring additional installation hours before and after. This is a hybrid work model.
  • SALARY: Depending on experience. This will be pro-rata depending on how many days.
  • KPI: Your performance will be assessed according to your ability to deliver projects successfully from initiation to completion.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

CURATORIAL

Curatorial research, graphic design and presentations

  • Curatorial research for artist presentations and art strategies
  • Source artists suitable for projects
  • Building art strategies and artist presentations for clients
  • Presentation of artist practices suitable to projects to clients
  • Write and review project write-ups and artist statements
  • Review and write artist contracts
  • Strong writing skills
  • Research and source materials for artist's projects as required

Project Support and Delivery

  • Artist liaison, assisting with communication with artists on projects via phone and email.
  • Liaising with fabricators, engineers and suppliers on projects
  • Shadow and support other project managers' projects
  • Liaise with internal staff at all levels
  • Review operating practices and implement improvements where necessary
  • Support project marketing and engagement activities, including organising professional documentation and event support
  • Write and publish project write-ups and other articles for the website

Marketing

Manage and deliver monthly newsletter sent to our mailing list

Assist in doing a write-up for the post-project Marketing, which includes LinkedIn.

  • Ensure consistency in design elements across all materials output with our branding guidelines.

Apply for Conferences and awards.

  • Manage the Google reviews for previous clients and artists.
  • Manage social media posts on Instagram and LinkedIn
  • We will occasionally host events throughout the year and expect support and managing of events with the whole team's support (for example, SXSW or remix conference

SELECTION CRITERIA

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications (such as in Contemporary Art, Art History, Curatorial Studies, Arts Management, Fine Arts, Architecture and Design, Urban Studies, and Engineering).
  2. A strong knowledge of contemporary art and culture within Australia and a commitment to promoting the work of living artists.
  3. Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop.
  4. Ideally, the applicant has demonstrated project experience with particular emphasis on multitasking, working across curatorial and exhibition projects in an art institution or similar.
  5. Excellent organisational, administrative and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  6. Excellent written skills.
  7. Demonstrated capacity for sustained effort, responsiveness to changing priorities and ability to remain calm under pressure.
  8. Strong design portfolio showcasing graphic design skills.
  9. Has worked in an office environment for at least 18 months.
