The City of Cockburn are seeking a passionate individual to join our team to contribute in providing specialist financial analysis and forecasting to inform financial decision making by senior management and Executive leadership team.
About the Position
As a Financial Analyst in the Accounting & Budgeting Service Unit, you'll play a pivotal role, and your key responsibilities will include:
- Perform specialist financial analysis and provide professional internal advice to support the successful management and delivery of the City’s operational and capital budgets.
- Develop and manage labour and plant resource cost allocation systems used for budgeting and allocating corporate and input costs across the organisation.
- Develop and manage an Activity Based Costing (ABC) framework and perform annual reviews through engagement and negotiation with service managers.
- Researching, developing, and presenting complex financial models (i.e. discounted cash flow, net present value, budget forecasts) to inform business case development and decision making for service delivery and capital investments.
- Managing the integrity of financial budget data integrated with the City’s project management framework and systems through effective reconciliation practices.
About YOU
You'll excel in this role if you have:
- Relevant Tertiary qualifications for instance a Bachelor of Accounting as a minimum.
- CPA, CA or other recognised qualification or professional certification applicable to the responsibilities of this position.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with budgeting and reporting processes.
- Ability to be a lateral thinker with strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Extensive ability to work effectively, both autonomously and within a team environment to achieve deadline-based goals and objectives.
- Highly developed communication, negotiating, and interpersonal skills.
- Extensive experience using and interrogating Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modelling.

Salary: $116,995 to $123,944 depending on qualifications and experience.
