Government Engagement Lead

Location: Melbourne preferred, but open to Sydney or Brisbane
Contract Role: Potential for permanent placement
Salary: $100K + Super (minimum) | Up to $140K + Super for an outstanding candidate
Flexibility: 2-3 days per week

About the Role:

We are seeking a Government Engagement Lead to assist our client's membership based organisation to drive high-level stakeholder engagement and support strategic government initiatives. This role is perfect for someone who understands government operations, can liaise with senior officials, and thrives in coordinating complex, high-profile events.

You'll be working closely with senior government official's - at the Secretary and Deputy Secretary level - to facilitate industry conversations, workshops, and stakeholder meetings on key transport and infrastructure topics. Given upcoming high-profile delegations, this role is crucial in shaping our government affairs strategy.

This is an initial contract role as we seek the right person for the position, with the possibility of going permanent.

Key Responsibilities:

• Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with senior government officials, industry leaders, and key decision-makers.
• Workshops & Events: Organise and lead discussions on industry-related topics, bringing together key stakeholders.
• Government Affairs: Support government engagement strategy, promote key initiatives, and connect people across the transport and infrastructure sectors.
• Communications & Media (if applicable): Assist in press releases, media engagement, and public affairs.

Ideal Candidate:

• Proven experience in government affairs, policy, or ministerial offices (either within government or private sector).
• A natural leader - someone that people want to follow.
• Strong understanding of transport, infrastructure, or public sector operations (ideal but not essential).
• Comfortable liaising with senior government officials (Secretary, Deputy Secretary level).
• Strong event coordination skills with a high level of attention to detail.
• Existing government relationships would be highly advantageous.
