The Role

A State Government Agency is seeking a Senior Lawyer (VPS5) for a 2-year fixed-term contract based in Melbourne CBD. This role is ideal for legal professionals with 5+ years of experience, particularly in government, regulatory, or integrity sectors. You will provide high-level legal advice, support investigations and complaints handling, and contribute to regulatory policy development.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal and strategic advice on investigations, complaints, and dispute resolution.
• Assist with statutory compliance, legislative interpretation, and legal risk management.
• Draft legal documents, reports, and policy recommendations.
• Manage stakeholder engagement with government, legal, and integrity bodies.

About You

• 5+ years' post-admission experience in regulatory law, administrative law, or investigations.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience in government, parliamentary integrity, or workplace standards preferred.
• Current practising certificate or eligibility to obtain one.
