Our progressive Development Assessment and Certification department is seeking a motivated individual to join our high-performing Business Specialist team as a Development Planner - Landscape.

In this role, you will leverage your expertise in landscape design, visual impact, and streetscape assessment, providing professional technical advice across a diverse range of developments and applications. With a strong customer focus and a drive for continuous improvement, you will help shape our communities by delivering efficient and responsive advice throughout the development assessment process.

Your work will support developers, the community, and Council by ensuring best-practice approaches to landscape planning and development. You will also assess and determine development proposals across all functions of development assessment.

Your key responsibilities are:

  • Provide technical advice to internal and external customers in respect to the provision of quality and practical landscape design, visual impact and streetscape outcomes for development proposals
  • Review applications and provide advice to other professionals in order to ensure Council meets its obligations under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act
  • Manage the processing, assessment and determination of a broad range of applications including but not limited to development applications, public works certificates etc
  • Champion commitment to and passion for customer focus with proven ability to deliver exceptional customer experiences
  • Participate in facilitation or mediation sessions between developers and interested parties

LET’S DESCRIBE YOU

We are looking for a seasoned professional who prioritises customer needs and is passionate about collaborating with the development industry and the community to drive meaningful change. You excel in managing high workloads while maintaining strong interpersonal and communication skills.

With a proactive and solutions-focused mindset, you take a facilitative approach to problem-solving, engaging stakeholders early, negotiating effectively, and guiding projects to successful outcomes. Your analytical and critical thinking skills enable you to assess complex situations, evaluate options, and deliver best-practice solutions with integrity.

Specifically, you will have;

  • Degree or graduate diploma in landscape architecture or other suitable and equivalent qualification relevant to the field of expertise.
  • Experience in landscape design, visual impact and streetscape assessment.
  • Experience in assessing and determining a variety of development proposals, including residential, industrial, commercial, subdivision, recreation and tourist facility applications in an efficient manner and in accordance with legislative requirements.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and codes and Australian Standards as applicable to development assessment, landscape design and construction.
  • Commitment to the consistent delivery of exceptional customer experiences.

  • Commencing salary set in line with skills and experience with annual reviews available to support movement through the salary range
