About the role:
The position of General Hand/Engineering Maintenance will perform a diverse range of tasks associated with the maintenance of the City of Swan’s diverse range of infrastructure portfolio. This includes, but is not limited to roads, drains and footpaths. The tasks undertaken contributes to provide safe and efficient maintenance services within the City and to improve the quality of life of all people who live in, work and visit the City of Swan. We currently have a permanent full-time positions available.
The City of Swan is committed to accommodating flexibility within the workplace, where possible. Although this position is advertised as full-time, submissions from applicants that have a preference for part-time hours are invited and will be considered in this recruitment process. Part-time positions would be offered on full-day arrangement on a reduced roster of 1-4 days per week as mutually agreed.
Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
- Comply with relevant Workplace Health and Safety legislation and complete all work in a safe and efficient manner, having regard to own safety, the public and that of other workers
- Operate and maintain all associated plant in accordance with Safe Working Practices, City policy and procedures
- Deal directly, promptly and politely with customers providing a high standard of service with all customers and in accordance with relevant policies
- Follow standard operating procedures and guidelines to everyday task as directed by supervisors
- Working with asphalt concrete and drainage engineering infrastructure and associated maintenance
- Identify, report and follow up on any problems or faults and suggest improvement opportunities within/between teams
- Provide feedback in toolbox to correct quality deviations and/or faults
- Assist, as required, in the maintenance of other areas within the City
- Carry out a variety of tasks as set by the Supervisor, associated with maintenance and construction of Engineering and Parks assets

The successful candidate will have the following:
- Experience in engineering maintenance and/or engineering construction preferred but not essential
- Experience in road sweeping, weed spraying, mowing/whipping works preferred but not essential
- HR Class Motor Vehicle Licence
- Safety Awareness Training Certificate (White Card)
- A satisfactory National Police Certificate

The salary for this position will be from $70,716.36 - $71,633.82 per annum (includes loading), depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
