About the role:

The position of General Hand Engineering Construction will perform a range of tasks on a permanent full-time basis associated with the construction and maintenance of the City of Swan’s diverse range of infrastructure. This includes but is not limited to, roads, drainage, paths and parks. The tasks undertaken contribute to the safe and efficient construction and maintenance of infrastructure within the City of Swan and an improvement in the quality of life of all the people who live in, work and visit the City of Swan.

The City of Swan is committed to accommodating flexibility within the workplace, where possible. Although this position is advertised as full-time, submissions from applicants that have a preference for part-time hours are invited and will be considered in this recruitment process. Part-time positions would be offered on full-day arrangement on a reduced roster of 1-4 days per week as mutually agreed.

Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

• Comply with all relevant Work Health and Safety legislation and complete all work in a safe and efficient manner, having regard to the safety of yourself, the public and that of other workers.
• Perform a variety of plant operations and general duties associated with the construction of earthworks, roads, drainage and general engineering assets.
• Operate and maintain all associated plant in accordance with Safe Working Practices, Council policies and procedures.
• Carry out a variety of tasks as set by Supervisor associated with the construction and maintenance of various Engineering & Parks assets, completing all tasks to a high standard and in accordance with City of Swan standards, procedures and guidelines.
• Provide input into the development of quality outcomes and the recognition and correction of any deviations from required standard of work.

The successful candidate will have the following:

• Experience in civil engineering construction, including earthworks, road and drainage construction, and the operation of relevant plant and equipment
• Experience in general maintenance activities associated with Engineering and/or Parks assets, including relevant plant and equipment operation
• Good knowledge of WHS legislation and practices
• HR Class Motor Vehicle Licence (manual)
• Safety Awareness Training Certificate (White Card)
• A satisfactory National Police Certificate

The salary for this position will be from $71,622.69 - $72,522.71 per annum (includes loading), depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
