About the role: As a Brief Intervention (Alcohol and Other Drugs) AOD Case Manager with us, you will be providing immediate trauma-informed and person-centred care to participants utilising brief interventions. You will get to support people with practical information and supports and utilise a psychosocial capacity building framework. Along with your small team of 3 case managers and 2 peer workers, you will facilitate groups providing training in psychoeducation, harm minimisation, process groups and relapse prevention.

About the program: The aim of the Drug and Alcohol Treatment Program (DATP) is to achieve improved health and social outcomes for individuals, families, and communities at risk of, or currently affected by, problematic alcohol and other drug use. It supports people at all stages from early intervention to relapse prevention. This stepped care model is available to people aged 12 years or older with or without mental health conditions.

Hours and location: The hours are 35 per week and can be flexibly worked e.g. over a 9-day fortnight. The role involves hybrid working, including time spent in the offices, at home, and within the community. Office space is available in our Byron Bay hub and our head office in Binna Burra near Bangalow. A vehicle is available from Binna Burra for work in the community. You will get to work with participants both online and face to face. The role is funded until 30th June 2026 with potential for extension.

Qualifications and checks

  1. Tertiary qualifications at diploma level or higher in an AOD, social work, psychology, or mental health field
  2. Current driver's licence, a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check

Professional skills and experience

  1. A minimum of two years’ experience in delivery of brief interventions with a trauma informed approach using knowledge of AOD support and relapse prevention
  2. Experience in case management and delivery of mental health and suicide prevention services with a psychosocial capacity building framework.
  3. Demonstrated experience facilitating groups.
  4. Established networks and relationships with a with a range of referral services across the local community.
  5. Demonstrated proficiency using the Microsoft suite, a variety of databases and video conferencing tools
  6. Willingness to drive to Binna Burra office near Bangalow to pick up a pool car

This role will be remunerated at SCHCDS Level 4 $43-46ph. The package, including superannuation, for a 35 hour week is from 88k to 94k with access to salary packaging to potentially increase your take home pay by another 5k.
