About the role

The primary purpose of the role is to provide operational support to a small team, and therapeutic case management support to woman and children affected and impacted by domestic and family violence.

We are seeking a proactive and collaborative Senior Case Manager who has extensive experience in case management, preferably in working with woman and children who have experienced or are escaping DFV.

The incumbent will be able to manage multiple competing tasks including managing a complex case load, providing leadership to a small team, and managing key projects. The role may lead support groups one evening per month however this is to be negotiated with the successful candidate.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

Case Management

  • Provide trauma informed, client centred case management to individuals experiencing DFV.
  • Conduct risk assessments, safety planning, support plans in line with best practice frameworks.
  • Work collaboratively with key stakeholders including DCJ, housing, community services and other referral pathways.
  • Maintain accurate case notes and documentation in accordance with organisational, legislative, and funding requirements.
  • Assist with the development and evaluation of workshops, support groups and other groups as required.
  • Contribute to continuous service improvement.

Leadership and Operations

  • Provide leadership and operational supervision to a small team.
  • Manage key programs including program design and development, evaluation, and funding agency reporting.
  • Lead case management meeting including case reviews and maintaining service standards.
  • Contribute to service improvement initiatives and policy and practice development.
  • Ensure services comply with legal, ethical, and professional standards, including child protection and DFV legislation.
  • Assist with accreditation and the development of policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as required.

The position is part time 21 hours per week (workdays are flexible between Monday and Thursday, and to be negotiated with suitable applicant) and is a 12 month fixed term contract with a potential for extension pending funding. The role is based in Hurstville NSW, with public transport (trains and buses) at the office doorstep, and a short 17 minute express train ride from Sydney's central station.

Remuneration: SCHADS level 5.1 to 5.3 depending on experience and skills.

Due to the nature of this service, to identify as a woman is a genuine occupational qualification for this position under s.31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).

About you

  • Commitment and understanding of the values which underpin Moving Forwards mission and purpose.
  • Tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology, human services or related field
  • Extensive experience in case management, preferably in DFV or related field.
  • Strong understand of family violence and child protections sectors, Including mandatory reporting, duty of care, legislation, policies, and practice frameworks.
  • Relevant work experience in supporting woman and children through case management, including risk assessments, safety planning, service intervention and referral pathways.
  • Experience in a operations support and leadership role in supporting a small organisation and team.
  • Ability to work sensitively with diverse communities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, CALD individuals, and LGBTQIA+ clients
  • Relevant experience in maintaining case notes and timely reporting to funding bodies
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and advocacy skills, and high-level problem solving and organisational management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Capacity to work under pressure and at times autonomously.
  • Hold current Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance obtained in the past 6 months.

Desirable

  • Multilingual
  • Prior training in DFV (ie ECAV trained in DFV)
  • Experience in program development and evaluation
  • First Aid certification
  • Parenting program trainer (ie BUGK)
  • Experience with social media platforms and communication.
