Capes Foundation Social Media Coordinator

Full-time | Margaret River & Mobile

Are you a creative storyteller with a passion for photography, videography, and digital content? The Capes Foundation, a division of the Margaret River Busselton Tourism Association (MRBTA), is looking for a talented Social Media Coordinator to bring the Capes Foundation’s eight unique experiences to life through captivating visuals and engaging storytelling.

About MRBTA and Capes Foundation

The Margaret River Busselton Tourism Association (MRBTA) is a self-funded, not-for-profit, incorporated association with over 50 years’ experience in supporting the Margaret River Region to thrive through tourism.

Our diverse team of 160 employees is spread across the precious patch of earth between Busselton and Augusta. We share a common passion for the region and we are driven by a vision to produce outcomes from tourism which make it a better place to live, work and visit.

Capes Foundation seeks to sustain and share our region’s rich environment, history and culture at the eight sites entrusted in our care – Ngilgi, Lake, Mammoth & Jewel caves, Cape Naturaliste & Cape Leeuwin lighthouses, Capes Raptor Centre, and Forest Adventures.

The funds generated by Capes Foundation operations are used to enhance responsible tourism by marketing the region to visitors, undertaking visitor servicing, providing high quality attractions, and investing in the conservation and preservation of its natural and heritage assets, with a resulting contribution to the economy of the region.

About the Role

As part of the Capes Foundation Communications team, you’ll play a key role in capturing, creating, and curating high-quality visual content for social media and digital platforms.

This includes filming, photographing, and editing content to showcase the stunning landscapes, wildlife, history, and visitor experiences across the Capes Foundation’s attractions. Beyond content creation, you’ll also contribute to PR and media strategies, write copy for media releases and articles, and attend events to capture real-time content that brings our stories to life.

The position requires a minimum of 4 days per week, including some work outside of office hours. A mix of office-based and flexible working arrangements are available. The main office base is in Margaret River, with subsidiary office space in Busselton.

Key Responsibilities

  • Capture and produce high-quality visual content through photography and videography.
  • Edit and optimise images and videos for social media, ensuring they align with brand identity.
  • Develop and implement content plans in collaboration with the Communications Manager.
  • Craft engaging social media posts that integrate visuals, video, and compelling copy.
  • Stay on top of content trends and integrate them into social media strategies.
  • Coordinate and oversee photo and video shoots.
  • Attend Capes Foundation events and famils to create real-time content.
  • Organise and host content creator famils.
  • Write copy for media releases, blogs, articles, and website content.
  • Support the communications team in planning, coordinating, and executing events.
  • Contribute to PR and media strategies, including maintaining media lists and tracking coverage.
  • Monitor media engagement and compile reports to support communications efforts.

What We’re Looking For

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:

  • 3+ years’ experience in a social media, digital marketing, or content creation role.
  • Proven experience in photography, videography, and editing for social media.
  • Strong knowledge of content creation tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Lightroom, or similar).
  • A keen eye for visual storytelling and the ability to produce engaging video content.
  • A strong understanding of multiple social media platforms and how to engage diverse audiences.
  • Excellent copywriting skills, with strong attention to detail, spelling, and grammar.
  • The ability to curate and align photography, video, and copy with brand identity.
  • A personable and professional approach, with the ability to build strong relationships.
  • A genuine appreciation for nature, the Margaret River Region, and the experiences offered by the Capes Foundation.
  • Flexibility to attend events and respond to social media engagement outside of standard office hours.

How to Apply

Please apply online via Seek with a CV and a cover letter setting out how your skills and experience would enable you to fulfil the requirements of this role as set out in the duties and skills above. Applications should be received by 5pm on Sunday 16th March 2025.
