Platform Architect

  • Employment Type: 2 x Temporary roles until 30 June 2026
  • Location: Flexible/hybrid working arrangements available across NSW, with some travel to Sydney metro locations required from time to time (negotiable)
  • Grade: Clerk Grade 11/12
  • Salary Range: $145,378 - $168,130 p.a. base salary dependent on experience, plus 11.5% superannuation

The Department of Customer Service (DCS) is a service provider and regulator, focusing on delivering first-class customer service, digital transformation, and regulatory reform to create better outcomes for the people of NSW.

Government Technology Platforms (GTP) forms part of Digital NSW and delivers core and common digital capabilities and infrastructure solutions including cross sector leadership across NSW Government underpinned by the Digital Government Strategy.

The opportunity

We are now inviting applications for the opportunity of Platform Architect for Government Technology Platforms, within Digital NSW as it transforms to become the state's trusted partner to enable accessible and secure digital platforms and services for the citizens and business of NSW.

In this role, you will lead the development of systems architecture to support project and organisational objectives. You will also be responsible for articulating and sharing a unified technical and architectural vision for the solutions you are involved with.

This role requires a balanced mix of skills across business, data, application, security, and integration domains, as well as strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving abilities. You will work closely with architects, service designers, and business analysts to define the future systems architecture.

Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Model the current state of systems architecture, understanding business, data, application, and security requirements
  • Analyse and model the current state of systems architecture, with a strong understanding of business, data, application, and security requirements.
  • Produce design and integration artefacts
  • Collaborate with product teams to inform design options and solve business problems
  • Ensure design alignment with broader target architecture, standards, and strategic direction
  • Participate in managing multiple product streams and ensure timely delivery within sprint timelines
  • Ensure application services perform, scale, and meet availability and redundancy requirements
  • Stay adaptable to shifting priorities while focusing on shared business goals

What you will bring to this role

  • Extensive experience in system design or architecture, with a focus on innovative solutions
  • Strong modelling and design skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts to both technical and business stakeholders
  • Experience in applying patterns and standards to application designs
  • Proven ability to collaborate with business units and technical experts to define business requirements
  • Experience guiding technology investments and supporting enterprise architecture development
  • Strong stakeholder relationship management through effective communication and negotiation
  • Ability to communicate technical considerations clearly to non-technical stakeholders
  • Knowledge of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) or TOGAF (8+ certification preferred)

Essential requirements

Tertiary qualifications in appropriate discipline and/or relevant demonstrated working experience

Salary Grade 11/12, with the base salary for this role starting at $145,378 base plus superannuation
