About the role
The Business Improvement Specialist is responsible for managing a variety of Business Improvement projects, leading multi-disciplinary teams from across the department to implement new or improved systems, processes and services to meet the needs of a variety of internal business units, schools and preschools.

Specialising in process redesign and implementation with a human-centered lens, the Business Improvement Specialist undertakes internal consulting and advisory projects and identifies improvement opportunities and recommendations to implement improved processes, services and systems to achieve better outcomes for the department.

The capabilities you will bring

  • Extensive experience leading or driving business improvement programs through management of multi-disciplinary project teams, using the principles of human/user centred design, lean thinking and agile ways of working.
  • Extensive successful experience in the delivery of business process improvements and related change management activities, in a large, geographically separated and complex organization, including workshop facilitation, stakeholder engagement, process mapping and business analysis.
  • Extensive knowledge of project management, governance, assurance and data-driven evaluation processes and methodologies.
  • Strives to deliver work of a high standard and to achieve quality results and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, written and verbal skills to engage, consult and work collaboratively with stakeholders, and conveys information clearly in written communication and documents. Responds effectively to the requirements of a diverse client base, successfully negotiate on complex and sensitive issues and influence others to drive the delivery of improvement projects.
  • Proven ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a team, under broad policy guidelines, to apply high level organisational and time management skills, determine goals and priorities within the framework of corporate objectives, to think innovatively and creatively and to solve complex problems and to influence, guide and support complex change and improvement processes, at both strategic and operational levels.

Qualifications
Essential: Nil
Desirable: IIBA CCBA certification or similar, qualifications in Lean/Six Sigma or similar, Project Management Qualifications.

Special conditions of employment
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department of Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect (RRHAN) full day/online training course every three years.
