Your future is Energy Queensland:

Energy Queensland, and our operational brands: Energex, Ergon Energy Network, Ergon Retail and Yurika, are at the frontline of progress. As Australia’s largest government-owned electricity organisation, we serve people and communities across the state and beyond. Here, you’ll help us deliver reliable energy solutions for our two million customers.

Join us as a Business Process Improvement Manager and amplify your impact. Be part of something new at EQL. Our Business and Process Improvement team is just getting started and eager to embed this newly centralised function into the business – driving efficiency, improving cohesion, and making a real impact. This is your chance to shape something from the ground up, make a lasting difference, and add a standout achievement to your CV.

This is a permanent opportunity based at our Newstead Office in Brisbane.

Your opportunity:

As a Business Process Improvement Manager, you play a key role in shaping and embedding a structured, business-wide approach to business process management (BPM) and Continuous Improvement (CI) across EQL. You’ll build a consistent framework, bringing alignment and structure to BPM and CI, and fill a critical gap in how we currently operate.

In close collaboration with the General Manager – Business Process Improvement, you embed a culture of BPM and CI, empowering diverse teams to take ownership of their processes and outcomes. You work across the enterprise, partnering with leaders at all levels, subject matter experts, digital teams, and key business units to analyse and map processes for smarter, more effective ways of working. This is a highly strategic, individual contributor role where your thought leadership and influence drive real change.

No two days are the same for you. Your focus shifts based on where you can drive the most impact. You spend your time:

  • Developing and embedding a structured BPM and CI framework across EQL, ensuring a consistent and scalable approach.
  • Shaping and guiding the strategy of the BPM and CI function, aligning process improvement initiatives with strategic business objectives.
  • Analysing and redesigning workflows, identifying inefficiencies, and optimising processes using methodologies like process mapping, value stream analysis, and root cause problem-solving.
  • Leveraging CI methodologies to foster a culture of improvement through training, coaching, and governance.
  • Engaging and influencing stakeholders, collaborating with leaders, driving alignment, and implementing practical, scalable solutions.
  • Leveraging data and technology including conducting deep-dive reviews, building business cases, defining success metrics, and exploring innovative digital solutions.

This role also involves some travel, primarily for workshop facilitation and collaboration across our many Queensland locations, with the regularity varying based on project needs.

Your remuneration starts from $184k per annum + 14.75% super for a 9-day fortnight, and from $208k per annum + 14.75% super for a 10-day fortnight.

What’s on offer?

At Energy Queensland, we believe in supporting every aspect of your career and personal life. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Flexibility that works: Flexible working arrangements, including up to 50% work-from-home options for applicable roles.
  • Leave for real life: Access to additional health and wellbeing, culture and diversity leave options.
  • Grow as you go: Opportunities to develop professionally through training, leadership programs and full access to LinkedIn Learning.

What you’ll bring:

You’re a BPM expert with a proven track record of driving process improvement in asset-intensive organisations – whether in utilities, engineering, or another B2B industry that aligns with EQL’s environment.

Particularly, you have:

  • Formal BPM and CI certifications such as Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher) or an equivalent certification. A relevant degree is a bonus, but not essential – your BPM and CI expertise and credentials matter most.
  • Deep knowledge and expertise in BPM and CI methodologies, frameworks, and tools.
  • Extensive experience facilitating improvement projects that drive business value and help enterprises achieve their goals.

Your stakeholder engagement skills are second to none – you influence without authority, gaining buy-in and aligning teams to drive meaningful change. Your expertise in change management ensures that improvements are successfully implemented and adopted. You have outstanding communication skills – verbal, written, and presentation. You articulate ideas clearly and persuasively.

You’re strong in analysis and data-driven decision-making, with a proven track record of using reporting and insights to drive evidence-based improvements. Ideally, you have a BPM software application capability.

With a pragmatic, purpose-driven mindset, you focus on real, measurable change – not just theory. Your critical thinking and problem-solving skills allow you to navigate complexity with confidence. You thrive in greenfield roles, building frameworks, processes, and methodologies from scratch to create lasting impact.

What matters most? For us, it’s our values: We’re Safe – We Belong – We Grow – We Deliver. If you’re going to be a part of our team, these should matter to you, too.
