Support Worker

I am a mature female in my early 50’s developing a team of support workers to help me live my life in my own home. I am seeking support workers to provide 24 hour visiting supports.
These supports help me to undertake the activities of keeping my own home, personal care, and being my “wing-person” in life. It is important that you understand I don’t want or need active support at all times, sometimes I will enjoy my own company, and this is ok too.
My support staff would support me for a 24 hour period in my own home.
There would be inactive periods through the day, and a sleep period overnight. There will be a need for some complex personal care at different times of the day.
I am looking for people of similar age people who appreciate cats/dogs/budgies would be beneficial. I have a quick wit and dry sense of humour, which I honed in my years as a bar tender. I am comfortable enough in myself that some silence in a conversation is ok. I am a smoker and enjoy a gentle tipple in the evening at times.
I enjoy reading Novels, and my favourite music includes the Butthole surfers, Red hot chilli peppers, the Cure and others from the 80s/90s genre. I enjoy collecting antiques and sometimes repurposing these into new projects. I enjoy being around cats and other animals, I am not so fond of young children. I enjoy cooking Asian food and sometimes a good steak with a simple salad.
I would like to return to cooking more complex meals with the right support person to work alongside me, not to supervise me. I live with an acquired brain injury as the result of a medical event several years ago. I have worked hard to regain my old life and continue to work towards this. it is important to me that the people I work with recognize my autonomy and try not to over support me.
At times my memory and cognition may require subtle and innovative prompting to safeguard me in an unobtrusive manner.
- Are you handy in the kitchen, with an easy-going approach to cooking?
- Do you enjoy being around animals?
- Do you want to be part of a team that will make a difference in my life?
- Can you outdo the quickness of wit of a former bar tender, and enjoy gentle banter in a conversation?
