Life at Mission Australia
When you join the team at Mission Australia, you become part of a community who are determined to end homelessness and ensure people in need can thrive. United by our Christian purpose and values, we stand together with anyone who needs us, for as long as they need us. Find out more about us and our purpose.

Your Opportunity
The Aherlkeme Development Centre (ADC) also known around Alice Springs as "Percy Court", provides transitional accommodation and support services for Territorians who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Designed for individuals and families struggling to secure and maintain tenancies, ADC offers a culturally safe program of individual support, case management, and life skills development. The goal is to equip residents with the tools they need to successfully transition into long-term housing in either the public or private rental market.

As a Case Manager, you will work closely with clients to understand their immediate and long-term needs, providing practical assistance, advocacy, and referrals to essential services. This role requires a proactive and client-focused approach, working within a culturally safe framework to support individuals and families on their journey toward housing stability and independence.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Client-Centred Case Management: Build strong relationships with clients, assess their needs through Pre-Tenancy Interviews (PTI), and develop tailored case plans to support their transition to stable housing.
  • Tenancy Support & Housing Advocacy: Assist clients with tenancy applications, manage waitlists, liaise with the Department of Housing, and advocate for their needs to secure and maintain suitable accommodation.
  • Practical Assistance & Life Skills Development: Support clients in moving into housing, setting up essential services, and developing skills for long-term tenancy success, including budgeting, home maintenance, and tenancy rights education.
  • Referrals & Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external service providers, connecting clients with relevant support services such as financial assistance, mental health support, and employment programs.
  • Risk Management & Crisis Intervention: Identify and address risks related to tenancy, homelessness, and client well-being, ensuring appropriate measures and interventions are in place.
  • Administrative & Reporting Responsibilities: Maintain accurate client records, complete reports, referrals, and statistical reviews, and contribute to ongoing service improvement initiatives.
  • Culturally Safe & Trauma-Informed Practice: Work with individuals and families within an Aboriginal cultural framework, ensuring respectful and effective service delivery tailored to community needs.

Requirements for Success
With a significant background in Community Services, Homelessness, and/or Housing sectors, you will be confident in your case management and assessment processes with experience supporting people in residential settings. Other requirements include:

  • Minimum Cert IV in a relevant field (support available for new graduates), or a relevant degree with at least one year of experience, or an Associate Diploma with relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in the housing sector, supporting individuals and families in securing and maintaining stable housing.
  • Strong understanding of Aboriginal cultural systems and protocols, ensuring culturally responsive service delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability in person-centred case management, developing care plans, and coordinating wraparound support services.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional when working with clients experiencing complex trauma, distress, or aggressive behaviours.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences.
  • First Aid Certificate is preferred.
  • Full driver licence with no restrictions.

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
