Your Opportunity
Are you driven by a deep commitment to supporting individuals impacted by family and domestic violence? As a Safe Steps Case Manager in Karratha, you will take on a crucial role in offering specialised support services to those who are experiencing or are at risk of family violence. This position demands not only a compassionate approach but also a high level of professional expertise, as you will be responsible for managing complex cases that require nuanced understanding and careful judgment.

Working under general supervision, you will have the autonomy to exercise initiative and make critical decisions in the application of case work practices. Your role will be supportive in guiding clients through some of the most challenging periods of their lives, ensuring that they receive the support and resources they need to move forward safely and confidently. By maintaining accurate records, collaborating with external providers, and adhering to strict privacy standards, you will contribute to the overall effectiveness and integrity of the service. Your Key Responsibilities

  • Providing practical, culturally safe psychosocial supports for young people experiencing or exposed to family and domestic violence
  • Complete assessments and intake processes for allocated people, including all necessary paperwork and data entry.
  • Work with children and families to develop holistic and strength-based case plans identifying their goals.
  • Provide tailored case management support to clients, developing and implementing individualised case management and safety plans. Regularly review and update these plans to ensure they remain relevant and effective.
  • Conduct home visits and in-office consultations to assess the needs of clients, offering guidance and support while ensuring their safety and well-being. Maintain a trauma-informed approach in all interactions.
  • Provide advocacy and referral to appropriate services enabling people to achieve their individual goals.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed client records, ensuring all data is entered in accordance with privacy and security requirements. Prepare reports and documentation - statistics, reports, referral letters, goal plans etc as required, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the service.

Requirements for Success
With a significant background in Domestic Violence, Youth Work, Disability, Community Services and/or Mental Health sectors, you will be confident in your case management and assessment processes. Other requirements include:

  • A Degree or Diploma in Social Welfare/Social Science/Youth Work with a minimum of two years' experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent development and child and youth safe practices.
  • Well-developed communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to tailor communication appropriate to the audience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and the ability to work with Aboriginal young people, families, and communities
  • Ability to engage and provide support with people experiencing risk factors in their life. This will require perseverance, flexibility, and innovation.
  • Strong administration and report-writing ability.
  • Comfortable working autonomously and working within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Must have Full driver licence with no restrictions.
