About the team

The Sustainability Team sits within the Office of the Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, with a mandate to translate the vision and intent of the University's Sustainability Strategy into actions and outcomes. The team is the coordinating unit for delivery of a broad range of sustainability projects and activities across research, education, operations, and engagement functions.

As a visible champion for sustainability within the University, the Sustainability Team deliver the Strategy through best-practice advisory, project management, engagement expertise, and through building and maintaining collaborative partnerships with academics, professional staff, students, and the broader sustainability community.

About the opportunity

As the Net Zero Project Officer, you will provide operational project management support and advice to ensure the efficient implementation of project plans, activities, and tasks for the Net Zero program of work. Utilising your experience in the Sustainability space, you will coordinate various project stakeholders and foster effective communication to successfully achieve project deliverables.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • work within a dynamic and passionate team, reporting to the Senior Program Manager Sustainability
  • drive project success by providing hands-on operational support from planning to execution.
  • streamline project workflows by coordinating data, resources, and key documentation.
  • shape project direction by supporting the development and communication of charters and methodologies.
  • keep projects on track by overseeing workstream plans, monitoring milestones, and ensuring alignment.
  • bring teams together by managing logistics, scheduling key meetings, and coordinating events.
  • stay ahead of financial challenges by monitoring budgets and preparing insightful reports.

About you

  • bachelor's degree in environmental science (or related field) or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience
  • detailed knowledge and experience in multi-disciplinary, technical as well as social engagement aspects of Environmental Sustainability
  • understanding of decarbonisation techniques, sustainability principles, and the ability to apply innovative approaches to advance sustainability outcomes
  • experience in producing high-quality reports, including briefing papers for technical and non-technical audiences, and supporting committees and working groups
  • demonstrated experience in producing, and maintaining project schedules
  • proven ability in stakeholder engagement, budget monitoring, and managing project operations
  • proficient in computer literacy and Microsoft Office, with excellent organisational, time management, and administrative skills.
  • outstanding communication, presentation, teamwork, and collaboration skills, with the ability to convey ideas and concepts effectively to others
