About the Role
The Project Officer plays a crucial role in supporting the Office of the NSW Chief Scientist & Engineer (OCSE) within the Premiers Department by coordinating and administering a variety of projects aimed at fostering scientific and engineering excellence across both the public and private sectors in NSW.
In this role, the Project Officer is responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of projects by monitoring project plans, timelines, and deliverables. By tracking key milestones, costs, and quality indicators, they ensure that all aspects of the projects align with the approved plans and meet the desired outcomes.
The officer assists project teams by gathering and organising relevant documents and records, while also supporting the completion of tasks according to agreed methodologies.
Furthermore, the Project Officer supports communication and collaboration among various stakeholders, including government bodies, research organisations, and industry partners. They are responsible for managing official correspondence, contributing to project briefs, and providing updates on the status of ongoing initiatives.
This role also includes conducting research and analysis in assigned areas, contributing to informed decision-making. Additionally, the Project Officer provides vital administrative support by coordinating committee meetings and preparing necessary papers to ensure the efficient delivery of project objectives. Through these tasks, the Project Officer plays an essential role in the successful planning, execution, and reporting of OCSE's projects.

Office of the Chief Scientist & Engineer
The guiding objective of the Office of the NSW Chief Scientist & Engineer (OCSE) is to enable the development and application of science, engineering and technology to improve the economic, environmental and social conditions of the people of NSW.
OCSE has four key functions:
Independent advice - delivering evidence-based scientific advice to government on a range of difficult challenges.
Research support - attracting and retaining researchers and infrastructure and providing conference support and targeted investment.
